3. 驚恐症(Panic Disorder)

 

驚恐症是焦慮病的一種,在香港約有3.9%的人患上這病症。驚恐症是指一個人突然間感到對身體的不適感覺,產生強烈的恐懼反應。驚恐症可說是對危險和恐懼的過敏反應,起初通常是有一次身體突然感到強烈不適,可能是心跳加速、出汗、呼吸困難、胸口痛、胃部不適、麻痺、頭暈等。而當事人開始對身體不適產生極度的恐懼時,便以為這表示真正的危險,例如認為暈倒會不省人事,可能會心臟病發,甚至暴斃。於是,當事人會自然特別留意自己的身體反應,特別敏感,這又會引發更多的恐慌發作,因為焦慮本身也可以引起這些生理的反應,增強身體的不適感覺,這些預期性的焦慮也就成了驚恐症的形成,造成惡性循環。驚恐症亦是中一種痊癒率甚高的焦慮症,現時有效的治療方法是認知行為治療及認知治療。
